Getting Around Anaheim

Anaheim is located in Orange County, California, about 25 miles southeast of Los Angeles and 20 miles east of the Pacific Ocean coast. With a population of more than 350,000 people, Anaheim is the tenth most populous city in California. The most famous tourist attractions in Anaheim include the Angels Stadium, Honda Center, Disneyland Resort and a Convention Center.

Visitors to Anaheim can comfortably arrive, and travel throughout the city's excellent transportation system of air travel, roads, and rail. Many of Anaheim's hotels are located in the downtown area and are easily accessible by local public transportation.

Anaheim has a well-developed road network with several major state and interstate routes passing through the city. These roads include Santa Ana Freeway (Interstate 5), Orange Freeway (California State Route 57), Riverside Freeway (California State Route 91), and others. Arriving in Anaheim by car should be easy whether you are from neighboring counties, or more remote areas of California and even other states.

Visitors will also have a comfortable time navigating Anaheim's local roads. A drive of only a few minutes along Katella Avenue will reveal all of Anaheim's major attractions such as the Disneyland Resort and Angels Stadium.

Taking a flight to Anaheim is convenient, as the John Wayne Airport and Long Beach Airport are both located just over a dozen miles from the downtown area. Additionally, Los Angeles International Airport and Ontario International Airport are about 30 miles away from Anaheim.

Anaheim has a great public transportation system consisting of bus service provided by Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) and rail service from Amtrak and Metrolink. All three transportation services connect Anaheim to points south and north of the city, including Los Angeles.

The city's two rail stations are Anaheim Amtrak Station and Anaheim Canyon Station. Located right near the Angel Stadium and Honda Center, the larger Amtrak Station has service from Amtrak's Pacific Surfliner and Metrolink's Orange County Line. The smaller Anaheim Canyon Station serves trains along the Inland Empire-Orange County Line. Both train stations connect with other local transportation such as the OCTA buses.
